How can I sign up for an account?

You can now sign up for accounts by clicking or tapping the 3 dots in the top-right corner and selecting ‘Profile’ – you’ll be given a choice of sign in or sign up, if you aren’t already signed in.

How can I make comments?

Anyone who’s signed in will see a form allowing comments to be made on pages/posts where they are enabled by the publisher. If your signed in, this form will be shorter as some info will come directly from your account.

Why did you decide to transfer your website to your own hardware?

The primary reason is privacy. We’re working to be responsible for as much of our customer’s data as possible rather than relying on third-party companies and reduce the amount of unnecessary data that is collected.

Another (not insignificant) reason is that Wix (our previous provider) was causing us a lot of technical problems and were attempting to charge us absurd amounts for multiple types of premium plans that our current server offers to us for much lower annual cost, and the reliability is down to us.

One day our Wix site went down for 28 hours due to a problem with Wix’s servers that was entirely out of our control and they weren’t even responding to us. That was the final straw for us. While we’ve been in control of our own server, in spite of some teething issues, we have not had that long of a down period to date.

Your blog posts before January 2020 are categorised as ‘Backdated’ and have an orange disclaimer at the top – what does this mean?

Our backdated posts are posts from our old Wixsite. They were actually transferred in February 2020, but are timestamped with their original publish dates – hence they are backdated.

As covered in this blog post, these posts are clearly marked and contain a disclaimer because they may contain information that pertains ONLY to our old Wixsite, and may be irrelevant to this new site.

Is your website secure?

We’ve taken an extensive series of measures to ensure security on our website, and it’s server. We can’t detail many of these, for obvious reasons, however for as much info as we’re able to provide, please review our Privacy Policy.

How do I deliver a product to you?

As one of our services, we’ll sometimes purchase damaged or unwanted devices from our customers. In these instances, we request that the item(s) in question be placed in their original packaging if possible, otherwise use of sufficient padding and protection materials like bubble wrap available from Poundland, stationary stores, etc.

Tracked delivery is recommended, but not required – if your device doesn’t reach us, with a tracking number you’ll be able to chase up the delivery company. Without one, this is significantly harder. For a full breakdown of information relevant to our services, see our Services page.

A product I ordered arrived damaged

We’re sorry if anyone ever receives damaged goods from us, if you ever do, take photos of the entire product and packaging and send us an email with the details and photo’s, we’ll go through what the options are on a per-case basis.

How long does delivery take?

On devices in the ‘brand-new’ category, we usually need to build these to order, which will result in a longer dispatch time – however, products in other categories are usually dispatched within 2 working days. You’ll always receive an email once your order has been dispatched and from that time, it takes 2-5 days for delivery.

My order has been halted due to an “unauthorised” coupon code

Here at S-City Tech, we regularly put up coupon codes – most of these are for the public, however some aren’t. If your order uses a private coupon code and we suspect you don’t have authorisation to use it, we’ll halt your order and contact you.

You can either provide evidence of your authorisation or pay the difference to resume your order. Alternatively, you can cancel your order for a full refund, if you so desire.

Can I subscribe to your new posts?

We provide a few ways for our customers to receive our new posts. One is RSS2, which requires a dedicated app – just search for “RSS reader” on your app store for mobile, or on Google for desktops & laptops.

A much simpler way is to subscribe to our new posts via your account settings in the navigation menu. Then, you’ll receive an email every time we post and you can opt out at any time!
