In our official statement about the outage of March 20th, we mentioned a series of sustained attempts to connect to our server that were being blocked.
After some investigation, we’ve been unable to determine the owner of the IP, as it’s unique identifying (MAC) address, changes with every attempt, and a reverse lookup indicates that the connection is being routed through a known NordVPN server, which makes it very difficult to trace.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation, in the meantime, we’ve taken some measures on our server and website to help reinforce our protection against any attack should the connection eventually succeed. We’ve also made preparations to implement further measures in the interest of security.
We’re always doing research and studying online material to help increase and maintain our security, as much as we are able.
